Materials deform subjected to cycles of tension and compression during sheet metal form-ing processes. Under cyclic loading of tension and compression, materials show unique characteristics such as the Bauschinger effect, early re-yielding and permanent softening. To address these characteristics, many researchers have developed cyclic hardening mod-els. One of the reliable models is a two-surface model which is selected in this paper since it represents cyclic hardening behavior of  TRIP590, an advanced high strength steel sheet, in a proper way. Tension‒compression tests were carried out for  TRIP590 steel  sheets by applying a cycle of tensile and compressive loads with the jig set developed by Bae (2011) at  the  range of strain rates from 0.001 s-1 to 1 s-1. Their cyclic hardening behaviors were then modeled with a modified two-surface model to consider the strain-rate effect. The rate-dependent two-surface model  constructed  can describe the rate-dependent cyclic hardening behaviour TRIP590 with great accuracy.
