A recent trend within the automotive industry has been an emphasis on the development of modular assemblies for future vehicle applications. So for a damper or spring of the suspension system, the existing method to design the system through the analysis for the individual components needs to converted to the methods to design the performance of damper-strut module within the vehicle environment. In particular, the development of system models that account for the interactions between components within a modular assembly is necessary to insure that a module is properly designed. In this paper finite element analysis for a damper module as installed in a McPherson strut front suspension is carried out. The results of a study of the structural behavior of a damper-strut module model include the analysis result applying the dynamic loading for the real vehicle environment and effects of changes in individual component specifications.
