This paper is concerned with the evaluation and prediction of the effect of the strain rate on the tensile properties of CFRP. Tensile tests of CFRP laminates were conducted at various strain rates ranged from 0.001/s to 100/s to measure varieties of the elastic modulus and ultimate tensile strength depending on strain rate. To enhance the accuracy of the strain measurement, Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method was employed to measure the axial strain of specimens using a high-speed camera and the ARAMIS software program. The tensile properties of the unidirectional CFRP laminates stacked with 4, 4 and 4 have been obtained to predict the elastic modulus of the CFRP with various laminate stacking sequences. The prediction model of the elastic modulus of CFRP laminates is suggested by using the laminate theory and the tensile properties of the unidirectional CFRP laminates. The prediction model was also compared with the static and dynamic tensile test results of the CFRP laminates stacked with [0/90/90/0], [45/-45/-45/45] and [0/45/-45/90].
