A sheet forming process is one of the popular processes in industries due to the high strength compared with the weight, the good surface finishment, the formability to the complex shape and the versatility for mass production. The process has been carried out mostly by the empirical trial and error method which is hard to achieve a good process result because of the complicated correlation and co-effect of process variables. The process is, therefore, analyzed by the numerical method before the process design in recent industries. In this study, an elasto-plastic finite element code is developed considering the proper contact and friction conditions for the analysis of the real sheet forming processes. The finite element program developed is applied to several sheet forming processes such as a shadow-mask forming process, a turbine blade forming, and a double bead forming process. The application to realistic forming processes provide many important results for the process design and demonstrated the validity and versatility of the present algorithm.
